What is an Activation Transfer

Activation transfer allows you to deactivate your product on a computer so that it can be activated on another computer. An internet connection is necessary to perform an activation transfer.

You must perform an activation transfer if:

  • You are getting a new computer and are transferring your software products onto the new machine.

  • You are about to rebuild your machine (upgrade / re-install the operating system or change the primary hard drive).

  • You are transferring your software license to another person.

You do not need to perform an activation transfer if:

  • You have not activated your product yet.

  • You are un-installing and re-installing your product on the same machine.

  • You are applying a product software update.

How do I perform an Activation Transfer?

Once you have activated your product on a machine, the Transfer Activation command becomes available under the Help menu or in the Help >> About window of your product. Use the Transfer Activation command to start the Activation Transfer Wizard.

Phase 1 - Deactivating the product on computer A

Once you start the Activation Transfer Wizard, select the preferred method to de-activate your product:

If you have an internet connection, select the De-Activate via the internet option and click on Next. Your product is then de-activated and your activation count is automatically incremented. You can then re-activate your product on a new machine.

If you do not have an internet connection, or if the De-Activate via the internet option fails, select the Transfer Activation via Email option.

Transfer Activation via Email
An activation transfer via email is done in 2 steps:
  1. De-activate the product on your machine by clicking on the De-Activate button


     
  2. Email the Proof of Removal Signature to Activation@pjtec.com.

    To automatically create this email, click on the 'click to create this email automatically' link, or create an email manually and insert 'Activation Transfer Request' in the subject line, and the Proof of Removal Signature in the email body. The email can be sent from another machine if necessary.

    Note: The email must be sent within 24 hours of the deactivation for it to be processed.



    Once our Activation Department receives this email, the number of allowable activations for your activation code will be incremented and an Activation Transfer Confirmation will be emailed to you using the From email address of the request email. If you want the confirmation email to be sent to another email address, please specify it in the email body. Please allow one business day for processing.

How do I perform Silent Activation Transfers

If you need to release the license of a machine without doing it via the product (as described above), or if you need to release the license of a group of machines silently, you can use the following MSI packages. These MSI package will automatically remove the product's license on the machine they are ran from.

  1. Download the License Remover MSI package based on your product:
  2. Run the installer on the machine for which to remove the product's license.

    If you want to process multiple machines silently, dispatch the execution of the MSI package via Goverlan or another software distribution system.

 

Phase 2 - Activating the product on computer B

Once you have deactivated your product and received an Activation Transfer Confirmation (if you de-activated via email), you can activate the product on the new computer.
